Shanghai Chic

In August this year, shanghai Tang unveiled its Fall 2009 collection with a spectacular show along the south Bund, shanghai. Campaign model sun Fei Fei graced the red carpet and launched the Fall 2009 show. The collection was themed ‘Kaleidoscope’ and was inspired by Peranakan traditions with a modern twist. The show also featured a dazzling presentation of shanghai Tang Crystallized - swarovski Elements Collection by Joseph Li, shanghai Tang Women’s head Designer, which featured pieces incorporating swarovski elements.

Cartier Supports One Foundation

In August, Jet Li was presented a cheque for his One Foundation charity by Cartier, at the Cartier Boutique in Ngee Ann City. Cartier had chosen the One Foundation for its Love charity campaign and has raised s$30,000 in Singapore and RM30,000 in Malaysia. The One Foundation supports improvised and needy children in Asia. This is the fourth year that Cartier has used its Love Jewellery Collection to help charities around the world.

Palimpsest

The newest incarnation of Longchamp’s signature Le Pliage bag is out! In conjunction with the 20th anniversary of France’s Association for the Development of Fashion Arts (ANDAM), an association which promotes French and international fashion talent, Longchamp has commissioned three limited-edition remakes of the enduring Le Pliage bag. “Here are three styles, three ideas, three ambiances that refl ect the diversity which is ANDAM’s misson to nurture,” says Nathalie Dufour, head of ANDAM.

The first Le Pliage is designed by Jeremy Scott who places a portrait of himself as a modern samurai on the bag while Charles Anastase treats the bag as an art canvas, poetically sketching a pair of ballet shoes and Persian cats.

Stars of Chanel

Chanel Haute Joaillerie presents its Basel Stars, three special pieces from its Bijoux de Diamants 2009 collection. The first is the 2009 Basel Star, in 18k white gold and black ceramic, with baguette-cut diamonds, and is limited to only 12 numbered pieces. Next is the 2008 Basel Star, made especially for the opening of the boutique at 18 Place Vendome, and features 713 diamonds. Lastly is the 2007 Basel Star, set with white diamonds and rubies, with only 5 pieces available.
