Revisiting Chanel
Graced by sprawling black carpets, Chanel signature white camellias and white candles, the recently held Bijoux de Diamants was a revisit to the Coco Chanel’s 1932 jewellery exhibition held at her private apartment in France. The exhibition hallmarked the opening of Chanel’s Watch and Fine Jewellery flagship boutique for South East Asia in Singapore, this year. It showcased seventy iconic pieces,including highlights from the past like the Comete, Franges and Fontaine collections. Nipped away in a corner, the only recovered piece from 1932 exhibition, the Comete 1932Brooch shined beside the Bijoux de Diamants 1932 press kit. The evening remembered the original exhibition hosted by Mademoiselle Chanel herself, as it displayed the pieces of jewellery on black and white busts created by French sculptor Antonios Philippe.
