Spray me Scentless

Nature is the greatest perfumer of life,” is Issey Miyake’s approach to fragrance. Born of nature, a creature of the wild, lying in the arms of flowers and swaying from the branch of trees, a scent by Issey Miyake is the clothing designer’s latest fragrance for women. A scent as subtle as a green breeze, it sprouts from the essence of the rich, white floral scent of jasmine flowers, the green honey like notes of Arabian Jasmine, mixed with the sensuality of musk, the crispness of Hyacinth and drops of woody Cedar and citrusy lemon. Protected within the naked originality of a straight cut glass bottle, the green essence of the perfume is highlighted by the green box that protects the bottle of Issey Miyake’s fragrance within.

In the hands of a Lily

Clothed in scarlet red, the Lily speaks of royalty and exuberance. The messenger of its symbolic language is Lys Carmin, the new fragrance by Van Cleef & Arpels. Mixed in its signature carnality and spiciness, the Lily’s animalistic senses gradually sharpen, beginning from the lightness of a full blossom to the immediate spice of pink peppercorn and cinnamon before the scent trails off in the sensuality of the flower’s being. Also launched under Collection Extraordinaire is the ultra feminine Gardénia Pétale, the bewitching Orchidée Vanille, the tenderness of Muguet Blanc and the woodiness of Bois d’Iris.

A True Gentleman

He roams the dark streets of Paris, befriending all the dangers of the night. He stands in the light and yet it is his darker self, his shadow that moves on to the darker places of his being, of the world his darker self shows his true colours. Redefining the fragrance of masculinity is YSL’s La Nuit de L’Homme. Based on the contrasts of light and dark, freshness and heat, dazzle and roundness, the fragrance brings to you, the man, a combination of three olf active opposites that when blended respond and resonate with one another. The spice of Cardamom against a citrusy, fresh Bergamot, the woody Cedar balanced by the delicate, floral Lavender, whilst lightening the dark, virile shadow of a woody Vetiver is the mellow, rich Coumarin. Bold and elegant,

Revisiting Chanel

Graced by sprawling black carpets, Chanel signature white camellias and white candles, the recently held Bijoux de Diamants was a revisit to the Coco Chanel’s 1932 jewellery exhibition held at her private apartment in France. The exhibition hallmarked the opening of Chanel’s Watch and Fine Jewellery flagship boutique for South East Asia in Singapore, this year. It showcased seventy iconic pieces, including highlights from the past like the Comete, Franges and Fontaine collections. Nipped away in a corner, the only recovered piece from 1932 exhibition, the Comete 1932Brooch shined beside the Bijoux de Diamants 1932 press kit. The evening remembered the original exhibition hosted by Mademoiselle Chanel herself, as it displayed the pieces of jewellery on black and white busts created by French sculptor Antonios Philippe.
