Open Sesame

Magical incantations set the cave open; its treasures exposed, as Affluent steps into a new year with friends at the Treasure Island, Sentosa.

Life in top Gear

“Only as high as I reach can I grow, only as far as I seek can I go, only as deep as I look can I see, only as much as I dream can I be,” goes a Chinese Proverb.

A sizzling red Ferrari pulls up into the MOVA driveway and out steps a man whose calm and friendly demeanour tells you at once, of his humble beginnings. It’s one of those days when the Chairman, Mr. Yow Sai Phat drives his beauty to work. Growing up, this might not have been the life Mr. Yow imagined, all he had wished for was to get more than he had been given. As a boy growing up in Muar, a poor small town in Johor, Malaysia, with no funds to even attend secondary school, Mr. Yow had dreamt a dream quite big, but nonetheless.

The glass is cleaner on this side

Your life revolves around your home and family and your day runs the routine of the Asian Food Channel. Now, yes the chefs are naturally better cooks but what hassles you more is that their kitchen just seems more inviting. Good food with any other name

At first glance, Chef-owner Adrian Ling’s background reads like typical fodder worthy of a Hollywood script.

A former US-based commodities trader, Ling gave up on the rat race after nearly a decade of climbing the corporate ladder in 2004. Embarking on a six month sojourn to the Tibetan plateau, the soul-searching adventure made him realize what he really wanted in life, was to cook.
