Established in 2011, ESQUINA continues to be in the forefront of the local Spanish food scene in Singapore. This modern restaurant, spearheaded by Barcelona-born Head Chef Carlos Montobbio, spacialises in contemporary cuisine showcasing Spanish and Catalan flavours.

Carlos loves experimenting with flavours and ingredients. His passion for fresh and quality ingredients is evident on the menu, which features a medley of flavours inspired by his fond memories and experiences of Spain. As head chef, Carlos has developed the restaurant as a leading establishment for cuisine based on Spanish and Catalan flavours. He translates these personal inspirations into contemporary produce-driven dishes through a mix of traditional and modern techniques, showcasing an attention to detail and often experimenting with an element of visual play in the presentation of his dishes.

Located at the corner of Jiak Chuan Street, ESQUINA offers two distinct experiences, rustic and modern industrial cues that evokes a sense of being in the heart of Spain. The ground floor features an open-kitchen concept and communal seating that encourages interaction. The second floor is designed to create an intimate setting, perfect for group bookings and private parties.

Handcrafted from premium ingredients imported mainly from Spain and also from Japan and Australia, the recently refreshed menu presents signatures such as the Grilled Spanish Octopus. Other noteworthy additions include the gloriously decadent Potato and Truffle “Gratin”, and Braised Saltbush Lamb.

This Valentine’s Day, Carlos brings to the table a tantalising and experiential eight-course menu. The menu’s novel play on both words and tastebuds alike serves to embody the flavours of love and romance, experience the different stages of love all in one sitting as you dine on Chef Carlo’s delightful creations. This menu is priced at SGD108++ per person, including a complimentary glass of Cava Mimosa.

Was very impressed by the quality of the food – it was nothing less than exceptional, every dish served strongly proved the creativity & how passionate Head Chef Carlos is of his work. The tapas were overflowing with flavour, one after the other and each bite was an explosive experience for the taste buds. Simply love EVERYTHING we tasted on the tasting menu. And the grilled Sucrine lettuce was oozing with sweetness (from Spain; flew in once a week by Business Class) and I just love how Chef combined it with Herb Yoghurt, Macadamia and Cider Vinegar; they brought lettuce to another level and to me that’s surely one of the must-try on their menu! All in all – great tapas and they were all delicately executed! Strongly recommend Esquina for its fantastic Spanish tapas food and that’s why we have returned to the restaurant again with our friends the very next day!”
